At the heart of habit formation lies the habit loop — a neurological dance between cue, routine, and reward. Let’s break it down:

  1. Cue: This is the trigger that sets the habit in motion. It could be the ding of your phone, the smell of freshly baked cookies, or the sight of your running shoes by the door.
  2. Routine: The action you take in response to the cue. Brushing your teeth, scrolling through social media, or hitting the gym — it’s all part of the routine.
