Motivation is a key factor in habit formation.

It is the initial force that drives us to start a new behavior and stick with it over time.

However, motivation can be fleeting, and it is not always enough to sustain us through the challenges of changing our behavior.

This is where habits come in.

Habits are automatic behaviors that are triggered by cues in our environment.

Once a habit is formed, it becomes much easier to perform the behavior, even when we are not motivated to do so.

This is because habits are stored in our brains as neural pathways.

When a cue triggers a habit, the neural pathway is activated, and the behavior is performed automatically.

The relationship between motivation and habit formation can be harnessed to create lasting changes.

By understanding how habits work, we can use motivation to start new habits and then use those habits to sustain us over time.
